The Paw of
Attraction™
Six principles that animals naturally embody — and that humans are invited to remember.
"Your animal is not trying to be spiritual. They simply are. They have never left the garden. They are living proof that the state of presence, joy, and unconditional love is our natural state — and that we can return to it."
— Suzi Doga Teitelman, The Paw of Attraction™
Wake Fresh
"Every morning is a miracle."
Watch your dog wake up. There is no grogginess of yesterday, no dread of tomorrow. There is only the pure, electric joy of being alive right now. Their tail wags before their eyes are fully open. They have already forgotten last night's thunder. They are already fully here.
Upon waking, before reaching for your phone, take three breaths. Feel the miracle of being alive. Let yesterday be yesterday. This is the practice of waking fresh.
Be Here
"Presence is the greatest gift."
Your dog is never mentally somewhere else. When they look at you, they are completely looking at you. Not thinking about dinner, not rehearsing what they'll say later. They are here, with you, in this moment, with their whole being. This is the most profound spiritual practice — and your dog does it naturally.
Choose one activity today — eating, walking, talking with someone — and be completely present for it. No phone. No planning. Just this.
Let Go
"Release and open."
Animals do not hold grudges. They do not replay the argument from last week. They do not rehearse the difficult conversation they need to have. Each moment is complete in itself, and then it is released. This is not forgetting — it is freedom. It is the natural intelligence of a being who lives in the present.
Identify one thing you are holding onto — a resentment, a worry, a regret. Take a breath. Imagine your dog shaking off water after a swim. Shake it off. Release it. Open to now.
One Suitcase
"We are all the same inside."
We arrive in different suitcases — skin, fur, feathers, scales. Some suitcases are large, some small. Some are considered beautiful, some are not. But inside every suitcase is the same thing: a being that wants to love and be loved. A being that wants to feel safe. A being that is, at its core, the same as every other being.
Look at your animal. Really look. See past the fur, the species, the 'petness.' See the being inside. Then look at the next person you encounter with the same eyes.
Content Now
"Joy is not ahead of you."
We are trained to believe that happiness is somewhere in the future — after the promotion, after the move, after things settle down. Your dog has never believed this. They are content now. Not because everything is perfect, but because they are not waiting for perfection. They have found the secret: joy is available right now, exactly as things are.
Ask yourself: 'What is good right now?' Not what could be better. Not what you wish were different. What is good, right now, in this moment?
Eager Forward
"Presence and excitement live together."
Animals are not anxious about the future — they are excited about it. There is a difference. Anxiety says 'what if it goes wrong?' Eagerness says 'I wonder what wonderful thing comes next?' Your dog at the door before a walk is the perfect embodiment of this: fully present, and fully excited for what's coming.
Think of something coming up in your life. Instead of approaching it with anxiety, try approaching it with curiosity and eagerness. What if it goes wonderfully?
